• Prospective randomized trial for 2-3cm stones in the modified supine position mPCNL (16.5 F, 87 renal units) vs standard PCNL (30 F, 81 renal units)
Pro mini-PCNL:
• No difference in
– Fluoroscopy time (4.3 ± 1.3 vs 4.8 ± 2.1 min, p = 0.06)
– OR time (83.2 ± 17.3 vs 78.6 ± 24.4 min, p = 0.16) – Hospital stay (4.3 vs 4.5 days, p = 0.76)
– VAS score (3.2 ± 0.6 vs 3.3 ± 0.8, p = 0.36)
• Difference:
– Mean decrease in hemoglobin (0.6 ± 0.1 vs 1.9 ± 1.1 g/dl, p < 0.0001) – Blood transfusion (1.2 vs 9.8%, p = 0.03)
